Where horse care meets architectural craftsmanship.
Building legacy, not just structures.
Architectural fluency rooted in equestrian life.
Quinis is more than just an architectural firm. We are a team of people who are passionate about our craft and dedicated to listening to you and your horse’s needs.
At Quinis, we take a collaborative approach to create bespoke equestrian designs. The foundation of our design philosophy is grounded in fresh air, natural light, and movement.
Bringing the “outside in” is a key part in creating equine structures. While time outside is prioritized, time spent in the barn needs to emanate the benefits of a natural space as well – light, air, space, and socialization. Much of what we do strives to bridge the gap between horses and humans through design, creating healthy and purposeful spaces for both.
Our Process
Our partnership with you lasts from conception to move-in.
01Defining the vision
We define the vision for your project through collaborative design meetings. Your needs and preferences relating to site planning, layout, manure management, weather considerations, riding disciplines, architectural form, and much more are discussed.
Through phase one, we will conceptualize your project and offer innovative solutions derived from our 25+ years of experience in the industry.
Budget considerations
Building code & bylaw analysis
Preliminary design drawings
02Solidifying the concept
We take your approved preliminary designs and prepare them for permit application. Much of the decisions made in phase one are now solidified, and we are now preparing for construction.
In phase two, working drawings are produced, and coordination with subconsultants and your general contractor picks up.
Prepare drawings for permit application
Subconsultant & finishing coordination
Liaison with city officials & general contractor
03 Execute and support
Once construction begins on your project, we support you and your general contractor for the entirety of the build. Now that your vision is fully defined, we help you navigate the micro-decisions that come with construction and finishing.
In phase 3, lines on paper become reality. While other designers may step back at this phase, we aim to track the progress of the build with your vision as the criteria.
Liaison with city officials & general contractor
Site visits & progress tracking
Consulting support for specifications, details & finishing
Lived experience. Uncompromising standard.
Bringing artistry and purpose to every project.
We are a team of designers, drafters, interior designers, administrators, and equestrians with the goal of bringing your project to life.
We use our combined expertise with a vast reach of knowledge from working in many different locales.
Building design has been a passion for Ernest from a young age. The past 25 years have seen him designing several different design disciplines, from commercial and high-end custom homes. However, Ernest found an extraordinary passion in equestrian design.
Ernest has studied at UFV, BCIT and AIBC Architectural Syllabus in BC, Canada. Being a horse owner and rider himself has taught him a fundamental connection between horse and stable. Understanding, yet ever learning how horses interact with their environment has been vital to his love of equestrian design.
Since I was young I have always had a strong passion for architecture, however not realizing it until later in life.
In 2015 I had the opportunity to go back to school and start working towards a new career. Thinking back to my childhood dream, I enrolled in the Intro to Architectural Design program at UFV. I was hired at Quinis and Envision Design Works the following spring and began my new career modelling dreams. Now I am part of a great design team, working with powerful software to create custom homes and outstanding equestrian facilities for some of the best clients.
I grew up riding horses, and from a young age my love for all things equestrian grew. Understanding how the horse works and interacts with their environments was fascinating to me.
I am passionate about context in design, understanding that the form of a structure needs to go hand-in-hand with its function. Working with Quinis has combined my interests for media, marketing, creative expression, and business. My goal is to meet exceptional, functional design with equestrian life; helping barn, rider and horse work seamlessly together. I do this through sourcing only the best equestrian barn equipment for our clients and our designs.
With 20 years of experience, I bring a unique perspective to the team at Quinis and Envision Design Works.
My background in architectural design from UFV, combined with a lifelong passion for aesthetic form, drives my belief that every home should be as unique as the family living in it. I specialize in bespoke, people-oriented spaces where lifestyle dictates the design. I love that I get to build amazing relationships with families trusting us to design such a large part of their lives.
My lifelong passion for design and craftsmanship has driven my fascination with how architecture and landscapes shape our experiences.
This interest led me to graduate from UFV’s architectural drafting program, further deepening my commitment to design. Now, as part of the Quinis & Envision team, I am privileged to collaborate with mentors and clients to bring their unique architectural visions to life.
As an administrator, I bring a unique blend of strategic oversight and genuine care to our daily operations. With a BA in Organizational Management and a certificate in Human Resource Management, I manage everything from invoicing to our essential HR functions.
I am deeply passionate about helping people and I thrive on facilitating collaboration in our team. My goal is to ensure our office processes run smoothly while cultivating an inclusive, vibrant culture. To me, a successful workplace isn’t just organized—it’s an enjoyable community where every team member feels welcome and supported.
I am an interior designer with six years of hands-on experience, backed by formal training at BCIT. My approach blends creativity with practical design solutions, allowing me to craft spaces that feel both elevated and livable.
Growing up in the equestrian community shaped my appreciation for natural materials, durability, and timeless aesthetics, which continue to influence my work today. I value thoughtful details, strong functionality, and designs that reflect the people who live in them. With each project, I aim to create environments that feel authentic, refined, and deeply connected to their surroundings and purpose.
